Curved Touch Monitors for US Casino Gaming Equipment
Review the key specifications US gaming equipment manufacturers should confirm for C-Curve and J-Curve monitors, including 4K UHD, PCAP touch, interfaces and cabinet fit
Curved Touch Monitors for US Casino Gaming Equipment: What OEMs Should Confirm
Selecting a curved touch monitor for a casino gaming cabinet is not simply a matter of choosing the highest available resolution or refresh rate. For gaming equipment manufacturers, cabinet developers and system integrators, the display must match the cabinet structure, software output, touch requirements, mounting design and expected operating environment.
Before ordering a sample or approving a display for volume production, the mechanical and electrical configuration should be reviewed as one complete system.
This guide explains the main specifications that US gaming equipment companies should confirm when evaluating C-Curve, J-Curve and vertical casino display solutions.
1. Confirm the Display Format and Cabinet Position
Different display formats serve different positions within a gaming cabinet.
C-Curve monitors are commonly used where the cabinet requires a continuous inward-curved display surface. ClaraTech C-Curve models are available in standard sizes including 32-inch, 43-inch, 49-inch and 55-inch configurations.
ClaraTech J-Curve monitors have a curved upper section and a straight lower section in their normal installation orientation. They are normally selected for cabinets designed around a specific J-shaped screen profile. The cabinet opening, upper curve, mounting points and surrounding trim must be reviewed before confirming the model.
Vertical monitors are used for portrait-oriented gaming content and can be supplied in standard and custom large-format sizes according to the cabinet design.
The correct display format should be selected from the cabinet drawing rather than from screen size alone.
2. Select the Resolution According to the Gaming System
Resolution should match the graphics output of the gaming platform and the intended viewing distance.
Available project configurations can include:
FHD 1920 × 1080
4K UHD 3840 × 2160
FHD 1920 × 1080 can be suitable for systems using standard gaming content or legacy graphics platforms.
4K UHD 3840 × 2160 provides greater image detail and is normally selected for premium cabinets, larger displays or gaming content developed for higher-resolution output.
A 4K UHD panel should only be selected after confirming that the system can output 3840 × 2160 at the required operating settings. Cable length, graphics hardware and display controller compatibility should also be reviewed.
3. Review Curvature and Mechanical Fit
Curvature affects more than the appearance of the display. It also affects the cabinet opening, bezel alignment, mounting structure and available internal space.
ClaraTech uses 1500R as the standard curvature for its C-Curve casino monitor series. Other curvature requirements can be reviewed according to the project.
For J-Curve projects, the complete display profile must be checked against the cabinet structure. A screen with the correct diagonal size may still be unsuitable when the upper curved section, housing depth or mounting position does not match the cabinet.
Before sample production, customers should provide available mechanical information such as:
Cabinet opening dimensions
Front glass or decorative trim dimensions
Display mounting-hole positions
Available internal depth
Required screen orientation
Cable exit direction
Touchscreen cover-glass requirements
2D or 3D cabinet drawings, when available
ClaraTech can review customer-provided cabinet drawings to assess display fit and mounting feasibility. Final cabinet integration remains subject to sample verification by the equipment manufacturer.
4. Confirm Brightness for the Installation Environment
Casino gaming environments often contain decorative lighting, LED effects and nearby illuminated displays. A monitor that appears bright in a standard office may perform differently inside a gaming cabinet.
Depending on the model and project configuration, ClaraTech casino display solutions can be reviewed within a brightness range of approximately 350–1500 cd/m².
The required brightness should be selected according to:
Cabinet position
Ambient lighting
Front cover-glass transmission
Gaming content
Heat-management requirements
Expected continuous operating conditions
Higher brightness is not automatically better. Increasing brightness can also increase power consumption and thermal output. The target value should therefore be confirmed as part of the complete cabinet design.
5. Verify the PCAP Touch Configuration
Projected capacitive touch, commonly referred to as PCAP touch, is widely used for modern casino gaming interfaces.
However, PCAP touchscreens are not universally interchangeable. The following items should be confirmed:
Touch controller
USB communication
Touch protocol
Cover-glass thickness
Number of touch points
Operating system
Required driver behavior
Touch performance through the final cabinet glass
Where required, 3M-compatible touch protocol support can be reviewed according to the project configuration.
Touch functionality should be tested using the customer’s actual gaming system whenever possible. Testing only with a standard computer may not identify all controller, driver or software-integration issues.
6. Confirm Video Inputs and System Compatibility
ClaraTech casino monitor configurations can support the following video inputs:
HDMI
DisplayPort (DP)
VGA
HDMI and DisplayPort are commonly used with current gaming platforms. VGA can be retained for selected legacy equipment or replacement projects.
Before approving a sample, the customer should confirm:
Required input type
Output resolution
Signal frequency
Cable length
Connector position
Whether automatic input switching is required
Power-on and signal-recovery behavior
For legacy cabinet replacement projects, the existing system output should be checked before changing the original monitor.
7. Consider Optional Programmable RGB LED Integration
Selected ClaraTech displays can be developed with an optional programmable RGB LED bezel or programmable RGB LED frame.
This feature can be used to coordinate the display with cabinet lighting effects, game events or attraction sequences.
The LED configuration must be confirmed separately from the LCD and touch configuration. Project review should include:
LED placement
Control method
Power requirements
Communication interface
Cabinet software integration
Required lighting effects
A standard monitor should not be assumed to include an RGB LED bezel unless it is listed in the confirmed project specification.
8. Review Continuous-Operation Requirements
Casino gaming equipment may operate for extended daily periods. Display selection should therefore consider:
Operating hours
Cabinet ventilation
Internal temperature
Brightness setting
Power supply
Panel temperature
Controller-board location
Dust exposure
Maintenance access
ClaraTech can provide display configurations for 24/7 gaming applications. The final operating configuration should be confirmed after reviewing the brightness, thermal environment and cabinet structure.
Pre-shipment inspection can include visual inspection, signal testing, touch testing, interface verification and operating checks according to the confirmed order requirements.
9. Confirm Documentation and Compliance Requirements by Project
Certification and documentation requirements can vary according to the destination, customer, equipment type and final cabinet approval process.
CE, RoHS and FCC-related documentation or testing arrangements can be reviewed according to customer or project requirements.
These requirements should be confirmed before the order rather than assumed to be included with every sample or configuration.
The complete gaming machine may also require separate regulatory approval. Component-level display documentation does not replace certification or approval of the finished gaming equipment.
10. Typical ClaraTech Project Configuration Overview

11. Sample Review Before Volume Production
A sample review allows the equipment manufacturer to verify the display before committing to a larger order.
The sample should be checked inside the actual cabinet whenever possible. Important review items include:
Screen fit
Visible display area
Mounting alignment
Touch response
Resolution
Brightness
Video-input compatibility
Cable routing
Housing clearance
Power-on behavior
Thermal performance
RGB LED operation, when included
Any changes identified during the sample stage should be documented in the final approved specification before volume production.
