From 40 to 43 Inches: A Custom Curved Monitor for a Bally WAVE Cabinet
The original 40-inch curved monitor in a US customer's Bally WAVE cabinet presented a supply problem: the LCD panel manufacturer had discontinued the panel used in that monitor. The quantity required for the project was not sufficient to justify restarting production.
The customer needed a practical alternative that would work in the existing cabinet. They sent the cabinet to ClaraTech, and we developed a 43-inch C-curve monitor to fit it. The completed solution resolved the customer's discontinued-screen supply problem while allowing them to keep the existing cabinet and game software. This substantially reduced the development cost and time that a new cabinet design or software rework would have required.
Working Around a Discontinued 40-Inch LCD Panel
Continuing with the original screen size depended on a panel that was no longer in production. For this project, commissioning another production run was not a practical option.
Moving to a 43-inch panel offered an alternative, but the monitor needed to be adapted to the cabinet. A larger screen could not simply be selected by diagonal size and installed as an off-the-shelf replacement.
Adapting the Monitor to the Existing Cabinet
With the customer's cabinet at our factory, we developed the monitor around the actual installation requirements. The work addressed the monitor's fit within the enclosure, its mounting arrangement, depth and connection access.
The resulting 43-inch C-curve monitor fitted the existing cabinet without cabinet modifications. It provided a plug-and-play replacement in the customer's configuration and worked with the existing game software without software changes.
The Result: Lower Cost and Faster Development
The customer accepted the solution and placed production orders. The finished monitor solved the immediate problem created by the discontinued 40-inch LCD panel. More importantly, the customer did not need to redesign the cabinet or modify the existing game software.
By adapting a new 43-inch monitor to the existing system, ClaraTech helped the customer avoid a much larger redevelopment project. This significantly reduced both development cost and development time, while delivering the monitor solution the customer needed.
We retain the first sample and the fit data developed for this configuration. These provide a reference for repeat production and enquiries involving the same cabinet setup.
OEM Monitor Development for Existing Cabinets
This project shows the practical value of ClaraTech's OEM monitor development. When the original LCD panel was no longer available, we developed a replacement solution around the customer's existing cabinet and operating requirements. The result solved the customer's supply and integration needs while saving substantial development cost and time.
