Before ordering a casino display sample, the key mechanical, electrical and functional requirements should be confirmed together with the cabinet design.
Use this checklist as a final pre-sample review before ordering a display sample. For a more detailed guide on selecting screen size, display format, resolution and touch configuration, see our How to Choose a Casino Gaming Monitor for a New Slot Machine Cabinet.
1. Cabinet Opening and Rear Clearance Confirmed?
One common challenge in gaming cabinet projects is that the display and cabinet are often designed separately.
Before producing samples, the display supplier and cabinet manufacturer should confirm:
Cabinet opening dimensions
Visible display area
Mounting method
Installation depth
Cable routing space
Rear clearance
A display that fits the opening size may still require adjustments if the rear structure has not been considered.
Rear clearance and connector orientation should also be reviewed together with the cabinet opening, as both can affect the final installation.
Early mechanical review can reduce unnecessary redesign during prototype testing.
2. Display Format and Curvature Confirmed?
Before sample production, confirm the display format and curvature against the cabinet geometry.
C-Curve displays may require specific curvature matching and mounting considerations.
J-Curve displays may require different cabinet geometry and installation methods.
Flat displays may be preferred for simpler cabinet structures.
Also confirm the viewing position, installation depth, glass profile, and mounting method before the sample configuration is finalized.
3. Touch and Cover Glass Confirmed?
Before sample production, confirm the touch and cover-glass configuration for the final cabinet.
PCAP touch requirement
Cover glass thickness
Decorative printing, if required
Touch controller compatibility
USB HID communication
Optical bonding requirement
Grounding requirements
The glass stack, touch configuration and grounding can affect both the final mechanical dimensions and touch performance.
4. Brightness Target Confirmed?
Before sample production, confirm the target brightness based on the final cabinet environment.
Target brightness
Ambient lighting conditions
Cover or touch glass
Nearby RGB lighting
Viewing distance
Thermal considerations
The assembled sample should be evaluated under conditions close to the final cabinet installation.
5. Video and Touch Interfaces Confirmed?
Before sample production, confirm the required video and touch interfaces for the final system.
Video input: HDMI / DisplayPort / VGA, if required
Resolution support
Connector location and orientation
USB touch interface
Cable direction and clearance
Connector position and cable direction should be checked against the available space inside the cabinet before the sample is built.
6. Power and Electrical Requirements Confirmed?
Input voltage and power requirements
Power consumption
Connector type and pinout
Grounding requirements
Power-on / sleep / wake behavior
EMC requirements, if applicable
Electrical compatibility should be reviewed together with the cabinet control system before prototype testing.
7. RGB LED Control Confirmed?
When RGB LED halo lighting is required, teams should define:
LED control method
Communication interface
Controller location
Connector and wiring direction
Required lighting effects
Integration location
The lighting system should be considered together with the display structure, not added at the final stage.
8. Sample Validation Criteria Confirmed?
Before approving the sample, confirm the validation criteria for the complete cabinet integration.
Mechanical fit
Display performance
Touch response
Video and touch interfaces
Brightness
RGB LED operation, if required
Cable and connector clearance
Operating condition inside the cabinet
Any required changes should be identified and confirmed before the production configuration is finalized.
9. Production Continuity Requirements Confirmed?
Before sample production, confirm how the approved display configuration will be controlled if the project moves into volume production.
OEM teams should review:
Key component specifications
Manufacturing process control
Quality inspection requirements
Component availability
Change-control requirements
Long-term product support
Any component or structural change that may affect fit, image performance, touch, interfaces, or other approved functions should be reviewed before production.
10. Project Documents and Commercial Requirements Confirmed?
Before requesting a sample or quotation, prepare the key project information for review.
Recommended information includes:
Cabinet drawing or mechanical dimensions
Installation requirements
Functional specifications
Sample quantity
Estimated production quantity
Delivery destination
Required certification or compliance documents
Target sample schedule
Providing these details early helps the display supplier prepare a sample configuration that is closer to the intended production design.
Conclusion
Before ordering a casino display sample, confirm the mechanical, electrical, touch, interface, lighting and validation requirements together with the cabinet design.
